
As vice president of communications, Kevin Schweers oversees all communications, marketing and public relations activities at the Electronic Industries Alliance.
Before joining EIA, Schweers held several senior communications positions in Congress. Most recently, he was communications director for the House Energy and Commerce Committee and its chairman, U.S. Rep. Joe Barton, R-Texas. The panel has the broadest jurisdiction of any committee on Capitol Hill and its work affects virtually every aspect of American life, from the Internet and telecommunications to health care to energy and the environment.
Schweers also served as communications director to U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, and U.S. Rep. J.C. Watts, Jr., R-OK, then-chairman of the House Republican Conference. He earlier worked as a press aide to then-Speaker Newt Gingrich, R-Ga., and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Schweers earned his bachelor's degree in political science and Phi Beta Kappa honors from the University of Georgia, graduating magna cum laude.
