Internet Security Alliance Names Larry Clinton President

The board of directors of the Internet Security Alliance (ISAlliance) has appointed Larry Clinton as the organization's new President.

Clinton previously served as Deputy Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer and has been with the ISAlliance since 2002.

"Larry has already done an outstanding job strengthening the Internet Security Alliance and advancing its core mission," said Charlie Robinson, interim President and CEO of the Electronic Industries Alliance.  "Every day U.S. industry faces new challenges to Internet security and critical infrastructure.  Larry has worked tirelessly to ensure that businesses are adequately prepared and that federal policymakers are well informed."

Clinton has long been an authority on information security, testifying before Congress on a number of occasions as well as appearing on CNBC, C-SPAN and MSNBC.  He authored the ISAlliance's best practice publication A 12-Step Program to Cyber Security for Small Businesses, which has been endorsed by a wide spectrum of organizations including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the National Association of Manufacturers, the National Federation of Independent Business and the American Bankers Association.  Clinton also sits on the Board of the National Partnership for Cyber Security (NCSP), The Internet Education Foundation and the Advisory Board of the U.S. Congressional Internet Caucus. He also chaired the NCSP committee on market incentives for improved cyber security, a subject he has written and testified on several times.

Prior to coming to ISAlliance, Clinton was Vice President at the U.S. Telecom Association, coordinating federal legislative and regulatory issues including broadband development, security and intellectual property and international issues.

Clinton holds a master's degree in political communications from the University of Maryland.  He resides in Silver Spring, Md. with his wife Ginny and his two children.

The ISAlliance is a collaboration of the Electronic Industries Alliance and Carnegie Mellon's CyLab and works closely with the CERT Coordination Center – a leading, nationally recognized center of Internet security expertise.  The non-profit helps law firms and companies in the aerospace, defense, entertainment, financial, food service, manufacturing and telecommunications sectors by standardizing best practices in Internet security and network survivability and by working with legislators and regulators to ensure that market incentives are at the forefront of public policy.
