EIA Appoints Kevin Schweers as Vice President of Communications

The Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) announced that Kevin Schweers is joining the organization as Vice President of Communications.

Schweers comes to EIA after two years as Communications Director and spokesman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee under Chairman Joe Barton (R-TX). The panel has the broadest jurisdiction of any on Capitol Hill, covering issues such as telecommunications, energy, public health, interstate commerce and professional sports, in addition to its extensive investigative and oversight work. Previously Schweers served as a Senate Communications Director and also worked for Congressional leaders, including then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-GA).

"Kevin has a proven track record of communicating issues before Congress," said EIA President and CEO Dave McCurdy. "He knows how the legislative process works and, most importantly, he is someone who is extremely familiar with issues that affect the high-tech industry."

As Vice President of Communications, Schweers will be the primary liaison between EIA and the media, including serving as EIA's primary spokesman. He will oversee all communications strategies and the development of all EIA publications, including marketing materials and Web site development.

Schweers earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia, graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.
