EIA Announces Availability Of China RoHS Translations And Analysis On EIATRACK

The Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) announced today that it is publishing English translations of several key China RoHS standards and related documents on EIATRACK, the premier global service for environmental laws and regulations (www.eiatrack.com). In addition to the translations, EIATRACK also provides comprehensive analysis that helps companies understand the implications of these standards for their operations and products.

These standards and related documents have all been recently released by the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry (MII), the agency responsible for drafting and implementing China's Management Methods for Controlling Pollution by Electronic Information Products (commonly known as "China RoHS").

The new MII standards and documents that are being translated and analyzed for EIATRACK include:

  • The final Marking (labeling) standard that sets forth specifics concerning labeling for China RoHS compliance
  • The final Maximum Concentration Value (MCV) standard for product labeling
  • The final Testing Method standard that provides details on the testing approaches used to determine MCVs of covered electronic information products
  • Two Frequently Asked Questions documents (one on the specifics of the China RoHS regulation and a second on the recently released China RoHS implementing standards)
  • The November 2006 draft of the Environmental Protection and Use Period (EPUP) standard (note: this standard, or technical guidance document, is still undergoing review and adjustment).

The translations and analyses will be published starting in mid-December. EIATRACK users were able to access our published translations of the draft/final versions of the MCV and labeling standards several weeks ago, along with corresponding legal analysis.
