EIA Says Close the Coffin on the Vampire Slayer Act
ARLINGTON, Va. - Director of Environmental Affairs at the Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) Richard Goss today released the following statement after the California State Assembly passed AB 1970, the "Vampire Slayer Act":

"I'm disappointed by the vote in the California State Assembly on AB 1970. Our industry has taken great steps to ensure the products we manufacture use materials that are environmentally safe and energy efficient.

"AB 1970 sends the wrong signal. This legislation will neither save energy nor support the popular Energy Star program. Energy Star already drives measurable energy efficiency improvements and provides a strong signal to consumers concerned about energy use. Additionally, voluntary standards are already being developed for televisions and set-top boxes - which are the main points of interest to policy makers.

"Simply put, more regulation hurts innovation, and ultimately limits consumer choice."
