EIA Announces Colleen Boland As Environmental Affairs Specialist

Arlington, Va., March 23, 2006 -- The Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) announced today that Colleen Boland has joined EIA as Environmental Affairs Specialist. In this role, Ms. Boland will assist with the overall management of EIA's Environmental Issues Council (EIC) while developing and advocating EIA positions on behalf of the Alliance's 1,300 member companies on several environmental issues at the international, federal and state levels, including energy efficiency, product design and electronics recycling. Ms. Boland will also serve as a liaison to Alliance member companies on environmental policy developments, assist in the development and marketing of the EIC business plan, and research potential new member services for EIC members and EIA's sector partners.

"We are extremely pleased to add Colleen to the EIC staff," EIA Director of Environmental Affairs Rick Goss said. "Her strong mix of professional experience and academic accomplishments in the environmental field will allow her to make important and immediate contributions to the environmental priorities of the EIA member companies."

Before coming to EIA, Ms. Boland served as a Major Donor Analyst for the National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA). In that position, she coordinated donor strategies and communications plans and managed the organization's major donor database. She also served as Legislative Correspondent to the Honorable Wayne T. Gilchrest (R-MD), where she researched and relayed Representative Gilchrest's position on environmental and other issues, resolved constituent issues with federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and served as Mr. Gilchrest's liaison for the Congressional Climate Change Caucus. Before working for Congressman Gilchrest, she worked in various teaching capacities, including at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, PA.

Ms. Boland has written several environmental papers and possesses a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Resource Management from Pennsylvania State University. She is currently enrolled in the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University's Masters of Natural Resources program.
