Washington, DC, Nov. 19 -- Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) President Dave McCurdy issued the following statement in reaction to Congressional action this week on legislation that would prohibit Internet access taxation through November 2007:
"As the leading advocate in Washington, DC, for the U.S. high-tech industry, EIA constantly works to highlight the increasing role technology-driven tools such as the Internet play in our economy, and we believe Congress has made the right decision in extending the Internet tax moratorium. To encourage further expansion to consumers and the spread of advanced services such as DSL, cable, optical fiber and satellite broadband, we must ensure that the cost of Internet access remains tax-free. The Internet should be an engine of U.S. economic growth, not a target for creative and harmful revenue raising."
