Ceridian Ceo Ronald L. Turner Named Chairman Of Electronic Industries Alliance For 2004

February 1, WASHINGTON, D.C. – Ronald L. Turner, the chairman, president and chief executive officer of the Minneapolis, MN-based Ceridian Corporation, was named chairman of the Electronic Industries Alliance’s (EIA) Board of Governors for 2004 at EIA’s January 28-30 Executive Leadership Forum and Board of Governors meeting.  In his role as chairman, Turner will serve as the chief elected officer of the Alliance, preside at all meetings of EIA’s Board of Governors and Executive Committee and oversee the Alliance’s policy endeavors in the areas of innovation and offshore outsourcing; international trade; internet security; the environment; broadband; and tax issues that affect the high-tech economy.

“I am honored to serve as chairman of the Board of Governors of the Electronic Industries Alliance for 2004,” said Turner.  “The Alliance brings together the very best people and organizations of our nation’s high technology industries to promote our continued competitiveness and innovation in electronics.  I look forward to working with the Board, the management team, and the membership to help foster effective, forward-looking policies to strengthen our leadership in this arena that is so vital to our security, prosperity and quality of life.”

“We are extremely excited to have Ron Turner serve as Chairman of EIA in 2004,” EIA President Dave McCurdy said.  “Ron’s leadership in the high-tech industry is under-scored by Ceridian’s efforts to develop information security best practices and risk management strategies as a member of the Government Electronics and Information Technology Association (GEIA) and as a Founding Sponsor member of the Internet Security Alliance.  His past work with EIA as vice-chairman and chair of GEIA, combined with his private sector experience in the defense industry and as the CEO of a leading technology-based company, will be a tremendous asset for the high-tech industry.”

Turner has served as chairman, president and CEO of Ceridian since 2000.  A leader in information services for human resources, transportation and retailing, Ceridian has a major presence in the U.S., Canadian and European markets and has been recognized by Forbes Magazine in its 'Best of the Web' Annual B2B Guide.

Before joining Ceridian’s subsidiary, Computing Devices International, in 1993, Turner was president and CEO of GEC-Marconi Electronic Systems Corporation and held senior level executive positions with the Martin Marietta Corporation.  His background also includes military service with U.S. Air Force Systems Command.

Turner holds a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from the University of Tennessee and a master’s degree in engineering from the University of Florida.  He also holds a master’s degree in management from Massachusetts of Technology, where he was a Sloan Fellow.

He is a member of The Business Roundtable and is on the Boards of Directors of FLIR Systems, Inc.; the Brink's Company; Imagistics International Inc.; the Danny Thompson Memorial; and the Minnesota Business Partnership.  He previously served on the Boards of the American Electronics Association (AEA); BTG, Inc.; the Minnesota High Technology Council, which he chaired; the Minnesota Federal Government Contractor's Council; the M.I.T. Society of Sloan Fellows Board of Governors, which he served as President; the Aerospace Industries of America; and the National Security Industrial Association.

Joining Turner as 2004 EIA Board of Governors Officers are Vice Chairs Jerry Harrison of General Dynamics in Arlington, VA, and Glyndwr Smith of Vishay Intertechnology in National City, CA; Treasurer James Shiring of Microsemi Corporation in Lawrence, MA; and Secretary Greg Farmer of Nortel Networks in Washington, DC. In addition, the following individuals will serve on the EIA Board of Governors’ Executive Committee and represent EIA’s sector partners:  Kathy Gornik of Thiel Audio in Lexington, KY, Jerry Kalov of Kay Associates in Long Grove, IL; Bob Borchardt, a high-tech industry consultant in Winter Park, FL; Mike Kennedy of Motorola in Washington, DC; Rob Pullen of Tellabs in Naperville, IL; John Denslinger of Murata Corporation in Smyrna, GA; Mark Hughes of SAIC in McLean, VA; and Mian Quddus of Samsung in San Jose, CA.
