The Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) today announced that Brian Faughnan has joined EIA as Senior Manager, Government Relations. In this role, Mr. Faughnan will be responsible for EIA’s trade policy activities as well as policy support on EIA’s offshore outsourcing project and on EIA’s other core policy issues – tax, broadband, and homeland security customs issues.
“Brian brings extensive experience in the fields of international relations and trade,” said Dave McCurdy, President of the EIA. “His background includes a great deal of work on trade issues involving the major trading partners of the U.S., and this background will be an asset to EIA as we advocate the benefits of international trade for the U.S. and our electronics and high-tech member companies.”
Before coming to EIA, Mr. Faughnan served as Legislative Director for U.S. Representative David Dreier (R-CA). As part of his work overseeing legislative activities, he contributed to the successful effort on enactment of Permanent Normal Trade Relations (PNTR) with the People’s Republic of China and House passage of Trade Promotion Authority (TPA). In addition, he served as a policy analyst for the U.S. House of Representatives’ House Wednesday Group, where he authored “Insiders and Outsiders,” a survey of the 300 largest U.S. firms in Japan, and coordinated policy studies on increasing U.S. exports to Japan. Most recently, he spent two years in Mexico consulting and serving as a speechwriter to Antonio O. Garza, Jr., the U.S. Ambassador to Mexico, and prepared a daily Internet news summary for government officials in the U.S. and Mexico. Mr. Faughnan holds a Bachelor's Degree in foreign service from Georgetown University.
