Executive Leadership Forum & Board of Governors Meeting

The 2005 Innovation and Globalization Summit will bring key figures from the worlds of industry and policy together in one location to build consensus on ways to strengthen and promote the innovation economy that drives all U.S. industries. The Summit will enable attendees to move beyond the headlines and focus on issues essential to energizing the U.S. innovation economy through a series of timely and relevant roundtable discussions. Attendance at this three-day event is by invitation only, ensuring a valuable, intimate experience for all participants.

EIA is serving as a co-sponsor of the International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative's (iNEMI) Innovation Leadership Forum (September 15-16, 2005, in Herndon, VA). The Forum is intended to highlight the need for a coordinated initiative on stimulating innovation and manufacturing research for the electronics industry, develop a research vision that will help focus the limited resources available, and based on the research vision, develop a set of priorities, recommendations and potential funding mechanisms for innovative technologies that will enable companies to retain leadership in new technologies, products and services. The Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) and the National Chamber Foundation invite you to attend an Intellectual Property Business Forum featuring Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez on Monday, September 12, 2005, at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC. The Secretary will deliver a major address to the business community in which he will articulate the importance of intellectual property rights and how the U.S. Department of Commerce is committed to combating counterfeiting and piracy at home and around the world.

Each year, EIA holds its Legislative Roundtable as an informal yet informative way to discuss policies of interest to our industry with key Congressional and Administration staff. This is a great opportunity to look at our issues in a relaxed setting and to network with both industry leaders and key government aides.

EIA's annual Spring Conference hosts CEOs and senior management from EIA's 2,500 member companies, representing the entire scope of the high-tech industry. The theme of our 2004 event was "The Technology Industry at an Innovation Crossroads," and attendees focused on the question of whether the offshore outsourcing of R&D, engineering, design and integration jobs is a threat to innovation.

On January 10, 2004, the International CES 5K Run/Walk will bring International CES attendees, exhibitors, press, and Las Vegas locals together for a challenging 5K run or friendly one-mile walk. Benefiting the National Science & Technology Education Partnership (NSTEP), this annual charitable event supports technology education.

As the voice of the high-tech industry and its knowledge economy, EIA and project partners are intent on taking a broad look at the benefits of open markets and the trends in high-tech manufacturing, R&D, engineering, design and integration.  This forum was the first in a series that will assess today's evolving business environment and work to identify potential legislative and regulatory opportunities to make the U.S. a friendlier (and more competitive) business environment.

EIA's Environmental Issues Council will hold its annual Fall Meeting October 14-15 in San Diego, California. Please note that the EIC Fall Meeting is open to EIA sector association (CEA, ECA, GEIA, JEDEC, TIA) and associate members only.

The Mason Enterprise Center of George Mason University, the Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Electronic Industries Alliance will present a focused seminar on IT Opportunities in Japan. This seminar is primarily intended for area IT executives that have a serious interest in knowing more about JETRO’s high-quality, cost-effective Japanese market entry programs.

The World Electronics Forum (WEF) is a voluntary gathering of worldwide electronics industries association leaders. The Electronic Industries Alliance holds the position of Secretariat to WEF.  Founded in 1995, the forum meets annually to discuss topics of common interest, exchange information on services and data and strengthen relations between associations for the benefits and services of the high technology industry worldwide.

EIA’s Executive Leadership Forum (ELF) is an annual event held to bring technology industry leaders together to discuss issues important to their companies’ continued success. We kicked off the new year by determining policy priorities and key industry issues.

Hundreds of District of Columbia area residents helped celebrate America Recycles Day on November 15 and 16 on the National Mall.  Through a partnership among federal agencies, the District of Columbia government, electronics manufacturers, and non-government associations, volunteers on the grounds of the Washington Monument collected more than 35 tons of old electronic equipment for reuse or recycling.

The U.S.-China Chamber of Commerce, supported by sponsors including EIA, hosted its annual conference, this year focusing on U.S.-China trade strategy following China's accession to the World Trade Organization. The event offered participants the opportunity to meet hundreds of decision-makers engaged in international trade, as well as learn from cross-border business professionals and experts on China.

The World Electronics Forum is an annual gathering of CEOs and directors of electronics industry associations worldwide who meet to discuss key topics of common interest, exchange information on services and data, and strengthen relations between assocations for the benefit of our global industry. To highlight the importance of China's accession to the World Trade Organization, this year's event was held in Beijing.

With the help of backers such as EIA, the Supply Network Conference brought together a first-class group of speakers, representing a group of companies that has been engaged in continual supply network innovations and advancements. This group of thought leaders shared their experiences, viewpoints, and visions. It is through such cross-sharing and interaction that we will all be more effective in managing our supply networks.

Our Legislative Roundtable brought together Congressional staff and industry executives, as well as political analyst and keynote speaker Charlie Cook, encouraging lively discussion on a broad scope of issue areas that impact the electronics industry. Participants were able to meet new people, learn from each other and share their priorities, all while enjoying the surroundings at the beautiful Homestead resort.

EIA's Spring Conference brought together CEOs and senior management from EIA's 2,300 member companies, which represent the entire scope of the high-tech industry. Attendees participated in sessions with an exciting line-up of speakers from Capitol Hill and the Administration, including Senator John Breaux, Homeland Security Director Tom Ridge, and General Richard B. Myers, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Executives were briefed on the state of the economy, military preparedness and our industry's involvement, important issues facing Congress, and the role the high-tech industry can play in preparing the workforce of tomorrow.

The Executive Leadership Forum is an annual event held to bring technology industry leaders together to discuss issues important to their companies’ continued success.  This year’s program focused on analyzing the post-Sept. 11 challenges industry faces, developing a pro-globalization strategic plan and positioning the high-tech industry to be the economic engine for freedom, opportunity and development.
