EIA's 2007 Benefits Plan:

Medical, Dental and Vision Plan

  • Employees may chose to enroll in the CareFirst health insurance plan & MetLife dental insurance plan. Coverage is at 100% for in-network services. Eligibility begins on the first day of the month following your date of hire. The employee cost is only 12.5 % of the total monthly premium; EIA pays 87.5 % of the cost for your medical, dental and vision coverage each month.

Flexible Spending Accounts

  • We provide the structure for you to contribute and maintain a pre-tax Flexible Spending Account for your unreimbursed medical and childcare expenses.

401K Plan

  • EIA matches, dollar-for-dollar, the first 6 percent you contribute to its defined contribution 401(k) plan which has immediate vesting. More than 95 percent of EIA employees participate in this plan, which permits pre-tax contributions of up to 50 percent of your salary — up to the IRS maximums.

Pension Plan

  • Under EIA's fully funded, non-contributory pension plan, employees are vested after only five credited years of service and can retire as early as age 55.

Public Transportation

  • EIA offers subsidies up to $100 a month for using Metro. Our building is located just two blocks away from the Courthouse station, which is on the Orange Line.

Basic Life Insurance

  • EIA Employees are automatically covered at no cost for two times their annual salary in basic term life insurance. Supplemental Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment insurance for one, two or three times your annual salary may be obtained at a minimal cost.

Short-term Disability (STD)

  • Short-term disability income is provided for all regular full-time employees who are unable to work due to injury or illness. You are eligible for 80% of your salary if you are under the care of a doctor and out of work for a period of five (5) consecutive days or more.

Long-term disability coverage (LTD

  • Optional long-term disability coverage at 60% of salary is available to all employees. EIA subsidizes 50% of the employee premium for coverage.

Lifestyle Flexibility (Leave from Work)

EIA approaches work hours and time away from the office as a mutual responsibility. As an employer, EIA recognizes that we are all juggling delicate life balances. EIA has established some flexibility, so that when work or home responsibilities require extra effort, you can be where you need to be.

  • Flextime: Adjust your work hours, with your supervisor's approval, within a range of core time to suit your needs.
  • Paid Time Off (PTO): from medical to marriage to plain R&R. At EIA, we combine your vacation and sick leave into a central system for personal leave. You start accruing 20 days per year for the first two years of service with EIA
  • Holidays: 10 paid holidays -they vary per year, but usually include:
    • New Year's Day, January 1
    • Martin Luther King Jr. Day, 3rd Monday in January (floating holiday)
    • Presidents' Day, 3rd Monday in February
    • Memorial Day, Last Monday in May
    • Independence Day, July 4
    • Labor Day, 1st Monday in September
    • Columbus Day, 2nd Monday in October (floating holiday)
    • Thanksgiving Day, 4th Thursday in November
    • Day after Thanksgiving, Friday after Thanksgiving
    • Christmas Day, December 25
  • Compensatory Leave: Certain employees covered by FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) may earn compensatory time to a maximum of five (5) hours a week at your supervisor's discretion.
  • Extended Family or Medical Leave: Employees are eligible if they have worked for at least one year, and for 1,250 hours over the previous 12 months.
  • Summer Hours:Want to enjoy a long summer weekend? EIA offers the option of working three extra hours Monday-Thursday in return for leaving early on Fridays. You beat the traffic to the beach or mountains during the summer months and return refreshed on Mondays.

Tuition Assistance Program

  • All EIA employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement for college coursework that is directly related to their current job. Reimbursement is 75% of expenses up to a maximum of $5,000 per calendar year.

Casual Dress Policy

  • Employees enjoy a five-day a week business casual dress schedule. When on business or at any outside function you should dress accordingly.
